Ya know, she can shoot fire, but like, whenever she breathes, flames come out- she can’t control it. And the wind is strong in the mountains, so it blows her flames back on her, and burns up her wings."

Synopsis - Jake is a writer addicted to drugs and prostitutes. He does what he can to manage by going to twelve step meetings, and endlessly journaling. He has a preoccupation with his sister (still holding onto her Goth days), Jessa. He wants to talk to her about his memories of their childhood. Jake replays imagined conversations with her, which even in his imagination, don’t go well. The set represents both of their apartments at once, so they seem to haunt each other’s lives. He wants to spend Christmas with her, but she makes excuses. He befriends Archie, a suicidal cult survivor, who was told to go to Survivor-of-Sexual-Abuse meetings; somehow the closest thing dealing with surviving a cult. Jessa and her Goth boyfriend Reggie give it another chance to work out their sex issues. Between white knuckling it, pop-psychology, therapy, and twelve step culture will these tragic (and tragically hip) New Yorkers ever be able to let go of their damaged pasts?

JESSA – Mid to late 20s, Jake’s sister, a goth; underneath a sweet, nerdy type.
ARCHIE – the same age(ish) as Jessa, ARCHIE is a cult survivor, also plays a therapist and REGGIE, Jessa’s goth boyfriend.
RAMONA – Early 20s, a girl at the meeting, also a call girl, also Jake’s corporate-type boss, a nurse, a veterinarian, a therapist, and a cater-waitress studying to be a sex-therapist.
