Rob Cardazone has been acting, directing, and writing plays for over thirty years. BFA in acting: University of the Arts (Philadelphia); MFA in playwriting: CUNY Hunter with Tina Howe/Mark Bly. The Birth And Death Of Stars was awarded 1st prize in The George R. Kernolde New Play Competition, 2002. The Birth And Death Of Stars and Henry Descending were both New Century Writers’ Award semi-finalists, 2002. A Dark Wood was a finalist in the Nantucket Short Play Festival, 2007, and was accepted into the Samuel French Short Play Festival, 2008. The Shrew Sketch, FringeNYC, 2001, received a grant sized donation from the Charles O’Neil estate. What Sprang Off A Gypsy Rooster, Access Theater, 2004, was awarded future co-productions at Access. In 2008 he was awarded the Tennessee Williams Scholarship for the Sewanee Writers’ Conference with Romulus Linney/Arlene Hutton. Since grad school: One More Time with Malice, Robert Moss Theatre. 2018. Development and awards: Go Gently Forward (w/Mark Bly), Dreamers Often Lie (w/Tina Howe), Terribly and in Private (w/Francine Volpe) was a semi-finalist for the O’Neill Center. Jamie ‘Round the Corner, was a finalist in the Nantucket Short Play Festival, 2020. How to Cure Tarantula Mouth: finalist Trustus Theatre Competition, finalist Abingdon Theatre’s Developmental program, finalist George Kernolde New Play Competition, finalist Stanley Drama Award, semi-finalist O’Neill Center. Erasure, The Erased Queer History of 1930s NYC, is slated for production with Theatre Askew, La Mama, 2024/25. Rob is currently in the Librettist workshop at BMI, developing his Musical, The Mosquito Prince.
